5 HAT RULES YOU DO NOT WANT TO BREAK!
I love hats. During the pandemic I've been wearing a hat basically every day. I'm a fan of the dad hat currently. Richie Le and Johnny Chim discuss the rules of how to wear a hats.
1. Know what area you're wearing your hat in
This is often overlooked. With really popular teams for hats like the New York Yankees people want to wear the hat everywhere. However there are some neighborhoods that might not be friendly to that team you're wearing.
2. Pick the right type of hat for your face/head shape
Not every hat will look good on everyone. Fitted caps, dad hats, snapbacks aren't perfect for every face or head shape. To me Dad hats have always had the most versatility with the adjustable strap and because they don't ever look like you're trying too hard.
3. Know the correct sizing
For fitted caps this is very important. They aren't adjustable so getting it right when you purchase is critical. Other adjustable hats like snapbacks and dad hats it isn't as important because those sizes fit most. Also for fitted caps the sizing isn't always consistent so trying the hat on before you buy is key.
4. The perfect brim
How to bend your brim is very important, or to not bend it. Some use rubber bands, some people use their hands. For me I have never been too technical with this. I have hats that I have bent with my hands, other hats I left the brim flat. I think it all comes down to preference and the style of hat.
5. Match your type of hat to your outfit
Depending on the type of hat whether its for a team or a brand, or a blank hat. Each of these types of hats has a particular outfit they look best with. Some give off a vintage vibe, others an athletic vibe so pairing the outfit with the right type of hat can make or break your look.
